Rites Held For Gladys Gardner
Gladys L. Gardner, 85, of Grundy Center, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 14, at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor D. Ward Young officiating.
Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.
Gladys LaVina Gardner, the daughter of Henry and LaVina Campbell Cles, was born March 1, 1905, in Milton. Gladys grew up and attended country school in Davis County, and attended Troy High school.
Gladys was united in marriage to Roy Gardner on April 24, 1924, in Missouri.
She was employed by the J.C. Penney Company in Grundy Center for a number of years, and then worked at Western Dressing until her retirement. She loved gardening, lawn care, and flowers.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Roy, in 1965; her parents; three sisters, Lora Cles, Lera Dellinger, and Eula Sommers; and one brother, Harold Cles.
She is survived by one brother, Gerald Cles, of Milton.
Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church, Grundy Center.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
