Services Held For Anne Fisher

Mrs. Anne Fisher, 82, of Grundy Center, passed away Saturday, May 5, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center on Tuesday, May 8, at 10:30 a.m. Father Everett Frese officiated.

Rosemary Mallie was organist and played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude. Don Osterhaus was cantor.

Casket bearers were Howard Popes, Dean Eslinger, Joe Hemrich, John Kaput, Paul Hunt and Larry Praska.

Donald Coleman and Wallace Norman were ushers. Marcella High and Laurie Folkedahl were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Grundy Center.

Anne Rosalinda Fisher, daughter of William and Kathryn Cullinan Connell, was born December 28, 1907, in Grundy county. She grew up in Grundy county and attended school in Beaman, graduating in 1925. She did housework for numerous families in Grundy Center.

On December 30, 1944, Anne was united in marriage to George R. Fisher in Grundy Center. They farmed for several years until moving to Grundy Center in 1955.

Anne was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church in Grundy Center, and was active in St. Martha's, Women Foresters, and ACCW.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband George in 1983; one brother Thomas Connell; and one sister Agnes Hunt.

Anne is survived by one son William Fisher and wife Rita of Grundy Center; two sisters: Eleanor, Mrs. Laurence Murphy, Dubuque, and Mary Murphy, Grundy Center; and four grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
