Margaret Thelma Clark was born in Ames, Iowa, on November 5, 1907, and died at 11:00 a.m. April 14, 1990, at the Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, Iowa, having attained the age of 82 years, 5 months and 9 days. Margaret was the daughter of Gay and Tillie Palmer of Grundy Center, Iowa.
Margaret graduated from the Grundy Center High School and taught rural school in Grundy County for several years.
On April 7, 1927, at Independence, Iowa, she married George Clark of Grundy Center, Iowa. They lived in Grundy Center, Ames, and later moved to Waterloo, Iowa.
They had one son, Marvin Donald, born in Ames, Iowa.
Margaret enjoyed many sports and fishing. She and her husband vacationed at resorts in northern Minnesota for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; son, Marvin Donald; and a sister, Hazel Penticoff.
She leaves to mourn a sister, Dorothy Lantz, Solon, Iowa; two brothers, Donald and Carl Palmer, both of Grundy Center, Iowa; daughter-in-law Loretta Adams, Waterloo, Iowa; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 17, at 1:30 at the United Methodist Church, Grundy Center. Pastor D. Ward Young officiated.
Mrs. Sandy Stumberg was organist. She played "Just As I Am" and "The Old Rugged Cross" as well as selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.
The casket bearers were Roger Engelkes, Joe Cerne, Chuck Goodman, Lee Minnich, Keith Bentley and Leonard Ralston.
Marlyn Peters and Roger Peters were ushers. Shirley Peters and Frances Sievert were in charge of the floral arrangements.
Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
