Beulah Buus Rites Are Held

Beulah Buus, 72, of Grundy Center, passed away Wednesday, March 21, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral services were held at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center on Saturday, March 24, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Loren Kotman officiating.

Gloria Willms sang "My Task, "My Tribute," and "Calvary." She was accompanied by Connie Huffman, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were Art Henze, Henry Werkman, Edward Schoolman, Charles Kruse, Wayne Eilers and Jasper Westerman.

Floral arrangements were handled by Mrs. Don Ennenga and Mrs. Jack Westerman.

Interment was in the Holland Cemetery.

Beulah Neoma Buus, the daughter of W. B. and Tillie Frerichs Buus, was born August 26, 1917, in Grundy county. She grew up and was educated in Grundy county. She attended Grundy Center High School, graduating in 1933. Beulah attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI, and obtained her teaching degree. She taught for a total of 42 years, 16 in Iowa Public schools, four years in Rehoboth Christian Mission School in Rehoboth, NM, and the last 22 years at Highland Christian School in Highland, IN.

Beulah was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bernard and Harry Mac; and an infant sister.

She is survived by one brother, Rev. C. Oliver Buus, Tucson, AZ; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
