Rites Held For Thomas Neessen

Services for Thomas J. Neessen, 80, of DeWitt and formerly of Grundy Center, were held Saturday, March 17, at Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt, with Rev. Ronald H. Goodsman officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. Mr. Neessen passed away March 17.

Mr. Neessen was born May 26, 1909, in Colfax Township in Grundy County to John and Trancha (Jaspers) Neessen. He married Wilma C. Henning June 12, 1935, in Waterloo.

He was employed in the banking industry for 50 years. He had worked at the Grundy National Bank, the Banks in Beaman and Iowa Falls, and at DeWitt Bank and Trust Co., DeWitt, from 1946 until his retirement in 1976.

Mr. Neessen was a member of Grace Lutheran church, a charter member and first president of the DeWitt Noon Lions Club and a former member of Toastmasters and the Central Community School Board.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Norma Neessen of Colorado Springs, CO, and Carol (Mrs. Dave) Goodwin of O'Neill, NE; a son, Ron of Bettendorf; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Marvin of Stanton, CA.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

A memorial fund has been established.
