Services Held For Alvena Fink
Alvena Fink, 91, of Grundy Center, passed away Saturday, March 24, at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, with Rev. Calvin Vanderwerf officiating.
Merle Mamminga sang "Beyond The Sunset," and "Rock of Ages." He was accompanied by Dorothea Appel, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.
Casket bearers were Robert A. Buck, Jim Fink, Dean Schultz, Jake Hemmen, David Abels and Dale Bee.
Wava Hemmen and Dorothy Clark were in charge of the floral arrangements.
Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.
Alvena Kathryn Fink, daughter of Ernst and Clara Stein Paustian, was born November 19, 1898, in Tama county. She grew up and attended school in Tama county.
On July 18, 1917, she was united in marriage to Edward B. Fink at Marshalltown. They lived on farms in Grundy county and moved to their home in Grundy Center in 1956.
Alvena was a member of the Jolly Dozen and King's Daughters. She enjoyed gardening, preserving fruits and vegetables, and baking.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers and seven sisters.
She is survived by one daughter, Henrietta, Mrs. Bob Buck of Grundy Center; three sons, Donald Fink, Gravois Mills, MO, Vernett Fink, Parkersburg, and Dale Fink, of Calao, MO; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson; and two sisters, Viola Luethje, Gladbrook, and Helena Spier, of Clinton.
A memorial fund has been established.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
