C. Cannegieter Services Held
Christena Cannegieter, 89, of Wellsburg, passed away Friday, February 23, while a resident of the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center.
Funeral services were held at the Second Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg on Monday, February 26, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. H. Charles Kooger officiated.
Mr. Merle Mamminga sang "God Understands" and "Grace That Is Greater Than All My Sin." The organist was Mrs. LuRay Neessen, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.
Casket bearers were Douglas Cannegieter, Darwin Cannegieter, Curtis Eiten, Brent Hulstein, Bruce Dralle, Brian Dralle, Michael Dralle and Rick Dralle.
Jake Aalfs and Carl Nederhoff were ushers. Mrs. Jennie Ross and Mrs. Francis Slifer were in charge of the floral arrangements.
Interment was in Lincoln Center Township Cemetery.
Christena Cannegieter, the daughter of Andrew and Renje Stumberg Stork, was born April 22, 1900, in Lincoln Township, Grundy county. She attended rural township schools.
On June 1, 1939, Christena was united in marriage to Swier Cannegieter at the Lincoln Center Parsonage. She was a long time member of the Second Christian Reformed Church and was active in the Willing Workers until her later years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Swier, one grandchild, one great-great-grandchild, three brothers and two sisters.
Christena is survived by one son Andrew, Dike; four daughters, Mrs. Lillian Barron, Omaha, NE, Pearl Eiten, Wellsburg, Alice Behrends, Waterloo, and Mrs. Phyllis Hulstein, Orange City; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial fund has been established.
The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
