Services Held For Anna Ash

Mrs. Anna Ash, 78, of Grundy Center, passed away Wednesday, February 14, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church, Grundy Center, on Saturday, February 17, at 1:30 p.m. Pastor D. Ward Young officiated.

Casket bearers were Donavon Ash, Paul Ash, Edwin Ash, Kay Ash, Kevin Ash and Jack Stumberg.

Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.

Anna W. Ash, daughter of Jacob and Hazel Mennenga Arends, was born July 7, 1911, in Reinbeck. She grew up and was educated in Grundy County.

On January 3, 1931, Anna was united in marriage to John O. Ash in Waterloo. Anna was a member of the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center. She enjoyed embroidery and flowers, especially African violets.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, John L. Ash; and two brothers, Jake Arends and Harm Bleeker.

She is survived by one son, William Ash, Marshalltown; four daughters, Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Cooley, Broadhead, WI, Mrs. Roy (Marjorie) Houtman and Mrs. David (Judy) Venenga, both of Albuquerque, NM, and Mrs. Dennis (Jane) Sealman, of Grundy Center; three sisters, Mrs. Marlene Sincock, Flint, MI, Mrs. Darrell (Arlene) Essen, Grundy Center, and Mrs. Ervin (Hilda) White, of Marshalltown; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
