Services For Former Beaman Resident Held

Ingwald Sandstoe, 80, was born on July 31, 1909, at Burt, IA, the son of Matt and Inga Sandstoe. When he was a child he moved with his family to Beaman. He graduated from Beaman High School in 1927.

On December 16, 1934, he was united in marriage to Opal L. Schroeder in Estherville, IA. Opal passed away in July of 1957. On August 26, 1965, he married Mary J. Senft Register in Waterloo.

Ingwald was a retired farmer and also did custom corn shelling. He served on the Beaman Coop Board at one time.

He resided in Beaman until April, 1977, when he moved to his present address of Apache Junction, AZ. He was a member of the Desert Chapel United Methodist Church, Apache Junction.

Mr. Sandstoe passed away on January 8, 1990, at the Valley Lutheran Hospital, Mesa, AZ.

Preceding him in death were his first wife, Opal, his parents and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Apache Junction; two sons, James J. Sandstoe of LaMesa, CA, and Glenn "Dean" Sandstoe of Des Moines; one daughter, Christine J. (Mrs. Richard) Burton, Coon Rapids, MN; one sister, Thelma Koch, Westbrook Acres, Gladbrook; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the Beaman United Methodist Church. Rev. Harold Schirm officiated. Leonard Klinefelter was the organist and Malcolm Miller served as soloist.

Casket bearers were Gary Mugge, Lawrence Nichol, Darwin Vint, William Myers, Richard Lynch and Leland Arends.

Honorary casket bearers were Carl Borton, Homer Anderson, Delbert Mugge and Allen Medberry.

Flower bearers were Margaret Borton and Virginia Sanderson.

Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery, Beaman, IA.

Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
