Maye Eggleston Services Held

Maye J. Eggleston, 89, was born on May 4, 1900, at Odebolt, IA. She passed away Monday, January 15, at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center, Marshalltown, IA, where she had been a patient for the past few days.

She was the daughter of Willard and Zetta Honey Briggle. She graduated from West Liberty High School, West Liberty, IA, in 1919.

On June 17, 1922, she was united in marriage to Lorn A. Staats at Tipton, IA. He died in 1951. On June 28, 1970, Maye was united in marriage to Russell Eggleston at the Conrad United Methodist Church, Conrad, IA. He passed away in 1981.

Maye moved from Ames, IA, to Conrad in 1970, having resided at Oakview Nursing Home, Conrad, prior to her death.

She was a member of the Conrad United Methodist Church, and its United Methodist Women. She had been a member of the Grundy Center Garden Club and the Conrad American Legion Auxiliary Unit #681.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Lorn, their daughter born in infancy and her husband, Russell.

She is survived by her daughter, Merry (Mrs. Wilbur) Siemsen, Amery, WI; three step-daughters, Betty (Mrs. John) Wood, Conrad, IA, Carolyn Eggleston, DeWitt, IA and Barbara (Mrs. J. E.) Hill, Palm Beach Gardens, FL; one sister, Leone Sutton, Mount Pleasant, IA; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Maye Eggleston were held Thursday, January 18, 1990 at 1:30 p.m. at the Conrad United Methodist Church. Rev. David Crow officiated.

Evelyn Davidson served as organist and the soloist was Jerry Miller.

Casket bearers were Paul Siemsen, Dean Siemsen, Thomas Siemsen, Matthew West, Abram Siemsen and Robert McBride. Honorary casket bearers were Gregg Siemsen, Noah Siemsen and Nicholas Siemsen.

Donna Miller and Blanche Fields served as flower bearers.

Burial was in the Conrad Cemetery, Conrad, IA.

Johnston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
