Rites Held For Annie Everts
Mrs. Annie Everts, 89, passed away Wednesday, December 27, at the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center.
Funeral services were held at Bethany Presbyterian Church on Saturday, December 30, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Calvin W. Vanderwerf officiated.
William Aalderks sang "What a Day That Will Be," and "My Jesus I Love Thee." He was accompanied by Mr. Randy Aalderks. Mrs. T. J. Heronimus was organist and also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.
Casket bearers were James Everts, Stan Everts, Paul Smit, Jerry Oltman, Dicky D. Oltman and Ray Freeman. Edward Flater and Eugene Meester were ushers.
Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.
Annie Everts, daughter of George and Antje Blom Schipper, was born March 21, 1900, in Wymeer, Germany. She came to Butler county as a child, where she grew up and was educated.
On March 2, 1921, Annie was united in marriage to John Everts at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church parsonage. Annie and John farmed in Grundy county until September of 1948, when they retired and moved to their home in Grundy Center.
Annie was a faithful member of Bethany Presbyterian Church as long as her health allowed. She enjoyed taking care of her many grandchildren.
Annie was preceded in death by her husband in 1952; her son George; her parents; six brothers and one sister; and one daughter-in-law Mrs. George (Marlys) Everts.
She is survived by her two sons Fred R. Everts, New Hartford, and John Everts, Wellsburg; two daughters Alice V. Everts and Anna Mae Oltman, both of Grundy Center; one sister, Hattie Miller, Holland; two brothers, Conrad and Ben Schipper, both of Aplington; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
