Reka Harms Services Held

Reka (Oltmanns) Harms, 92, of Dike died Saturday, May 14, at the Grundy County Long Term Care Center in Grundy Center of natural causes.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, at the Lincoln Center Christian Reformed Church in rural Grundy Center. Burial will be in the Lincoln Township Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

Reka was born on December 31, 1901, in Grundy County, the daughter of Oltmann H. and Fredereka Tjepkes Oltmanns. Reka was united in marriage to Harm F. Harms, Sr. on February 21, 1934, in the Lincoln Center Church Parsonage in rural Grundy Center. Reka and Harm farmed in Grundy County for many years.

Reka is survived by one son, Harm Harms, Jr. and his wife Ursula of Dike; 3 grandchildren; Julie Cole and her husband Larry, Eric and Ryan Harms; 1 great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Cole.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harm on February 27, 1991; her parents; 3 sisters, Freda Saathoff and Grace Getting and one in infancy.

Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
