Rites Held For Harm Harms Sr.

Harm F. Harms Sr., of rural Dike passed away Wednesday, February 27, in the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital.

Services were held Saturday, March 2, at 10:30 a.m., in the Lincoln Center Christian Reformed Church, in rural Grundy Center, with Pastor Douglas H. Bratt officiating.

Pallbearers were Larry Cole, Eric Harms, Ryan Harms, Lee Saathoff, Kevin Saathoff, and Mike Saathoff.

Interment was at the Church Cemetery.

Harm, the son of Talke and Frerik Harms, was born in December 23, 1898, in Aurick Ostfriesland, Germany. He was raised and educated in Germany. Harm moved in 1924 to the United States, first locating in Golden, IL.

On February 21, 1934, he was united in marriage to Reka Oltmanns, at the Lincoln Center Parsonage, in rural Grundy Center. Harm and Reka farmed in Grundy County for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife Reka; one son, Harm Jr., and his wife Ursula, of Dike; two brothers, in Germany; two sisters, in Germany; three grandchildren, Mrs. Julie (Larry) Cole, of Grundy Center, Eric and Ryan Harms, of Dike, and one great-grandchild, Elizabeth Ann Cole.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of arrangements.
