George Boyenga Dies In Shreveport, La.

George Boyenga died sometime Tuesday at Shreveport, Louisiana, where he went several months ago to spend the winter with two of his sons. His health had not been good for several months. The immediate cause of his death had not been learned up to the time The Register went to press.

The body is being sent to Iowa Falls and it will arrive there Thursday morning. The Ferree funeral service will bring the body to the Ferree chapel.

Mr. Boyenga would have been 74 years old had he lived until April 13. He was born in German township and resided in Grundy county all his life.

The Grundy Register will publish his obituary in the next issue of the paper.

Services Saturday For Geo. Boyenga

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church in Grundy Center for George Boyenga, 73, who died suddenly Tuesday, March 8, following a heart attack in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he was spending the winter at the homes of his two sons. The service was conducted by Rev. Harold Sparks, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Casketbearers were Duane Greany, Stanley Stevens, Floyd Morrison, W. T. Heckt, Ralph Galloway and James Cech Jr.

The body was sent by rail to Iowa Falls, where it was received by the Ferree funeral service and brought to the Ferree funeral home in Grundy Center.

Mr. Boyenga was born in Franklin county April 13, 1892, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Boye Boyenga. He was married to Gertrude Bleeker. The wife died Oct. 16, 1961.

Mr. and Mrs. Boyenga moved to Grundy Center 40 years ago and resided here the remainder of their lives. Mr. Boyenga worked for the Waterloo Courier 35 years as circulation salesman for this area. He retired a few years ago.

Surviving are two sons, Raymond and Donald, both of Shreveport, La.; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Canfield, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Richard Hodson, Wellsburg. There are 10 surviving grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Other surviving relatives are three sisters: Mrs. Sophia Roskens and Mrs. Dena Roskens, Spencer; Mrs. Maggie Brass, Iowa Falls. The three surviving brothers are John and Wm. Boyenga, Hampton, and Edward of Ackley.
