Seddie Cogswell Dies Suddenly In Grundy Hospital
Seddie Cogswell, who had been engaged in business in Grundy Center the past 15 years, died in the Grundy hospital about 10 o'clock Saturday night. He was in his store Saturday night and he and his wife were ready to close the store for the night, when a heart attack came on very suddenly. He was taken to the hospital as soon as it was possible to get him there, and he died within a very short time after he reached the hospital. He was 60 years old on June 24th.
Mr. Cogswell was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cogswell. He was born in Moorehead, Kentucky, June 24, 1905. On April 23, 1927, Seddie Cogswell and Emma Peters were married at Harvey, Illinois. He was engaged in the grocery business at Riverside, Ill., for 13 years. In 1940 he and his family moved to Grundy Center. He engaged in several businesses, the last of which was a clothing store.
He was a member of Bethany Presbyterian church in Grundy Center and served several years as a deacon, a trustee and an elder of the church.
The body was taken to the Engelkes Funeral Home, where service arrangements were made. The services were at two o'clock on Wednesday afternoon in the Bethany church in Grundy Center. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery, Grundy Center. Rev. Gene Straatmeyer conducted the services.
Surviving are the wife; one daughter, Mrs. Gail Johnson, of Ames; three sons, Seddie Jr., Iowa City; Wayne, who is employed in Japan; Jack, of Chicago. There are three surviving grandsons.
Other surviving members of his family are his mother, seven sisters and two brothers, all of Chicago. Preceding him in death were his father, one brother and one sister.
