Raymond Murphy Dies In Hospital

Raymond J. Murphy died last Wednesday in St. Francis hospital, Waterloo. He was 66 years old.

The body was brought to the Vera, Luke and Ralph Murphy home Friday afternoon where the parish rosary was said at 8 o'clock.

Services were held at 10 o'clock Saturday forenoon in St. Mary's Catholic church in Grant township. He died following a heart attack. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Raymond Murphy, the son of T. D. and Jennie (Degnan) Murphy, was born on a farm in Grant township. He grew to manhood there and began farming in partnership with his brother, Gene, in 1925. He also served as an agent for the Grundy County Mutual Insurance Co. and as salesman for Archer petroleum products. Having spent his entire life in the Grant community, he was widely known and respected.

Surviving are five brothers and three sisters. The brothers are Gene, Lawrence, Luke, Ralph and James. The sisters are Vera, Mrs. Donald Challman, Galva, Iowa, and Mrs. R. W. O'Connor, Waterloo.

Friends and relatives from Buffalo Center, Emmetsburg, Curlew, Galva, Storm Lake, Pocahontas, Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Albion, Ft. Madison, Grundy Center, Conrad, Hudson, Dubuque, Dyersville, Reinbeck and Dike attended the funeral.
