Mrs. Rose French Dies Mon. Morning

Mrs. Rose French died at her home in Grundy Center Monday morning. She was 82 years old. The body was taken to the Ferree funeral home where services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30. Rev. Harold Sparks, pastor of the Methodist church, will conduct the service. Burial will be in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Mrs. French was born Aug. 5, 1882, at the Coles Station, Ill., the daughter of Joseph and Harriett Davis Allgood.

She was married to Joseph Edward French on Aug. 10, 1908, at Ellensville, Ill. In 1911 they moved to Grundy county, where they were employed on the George Hartman farm southwest of Grundy Center.

With the exception of two years, Mrs. French had resided since then in Grundy county.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mandus Barfels, two grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Henry Mast of Beaman and Mrs. Olla Longnecker of Waterloo, and four brothers, William Allgood of Waterloo, Dick Allgood in North Dakota, Dewey Allgood of Custer, S.D., and Albert Allgood of Holland.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1949, a stepson, Ernie French, a great-grandson, and six brothers and sisters.
