Mrs. Henry Kruse Passes Away

Mrs. Henry Kruse passed away 11 o'clock Friday night in the Grundy hospital, where she had been a patient five days. She was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage at her home and was taken to the hospital soon thereafter. She was 84 years old and had resided in Grundy county all of her life. Her husband died December 17th of last year.

The body was taken to the Engelkes funeral home, where funeral arrangements were made. Services were at the Colfax Presbyterian church at 1:45 Tuesday afternoon. She had been a member of that church most of her lifetime. Burial was beside her husband in the Colfax church cemetery. Rev. A. J. Straatmeyer, pastor of Bethany Presbyterian church, Grundy Center, and Rev. Gene Straatmeyer of Colfax Center, conducted the service.

Mrs. Kruse was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harm E. Knock of Colfax township. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Knock. She was born at the home of her parents, December 19, 1880, and she grew up in her parents' home.

On March 7, 1900, Elizabeth Knock and Henry Kruse were married. They resided on a farm in Colfax township until 17 years ago when they purchased a home in Grundy Center and resided there up to the time of their death.

Surviving are four sons, Conrad, Waterloo; Harm, Truth or Consequences, N. M.; Arnold, of Grundy Center; Vernon, Park Ridge, Ill.; four daughters; Mrs. Elso Groote, Grundy Center; Mrs. Harold Shaw, Fremont, Neb.; Mrs. Chester Brockway, Park Ridge, Ill.; Mrs. Allen MacNaughton of Cresco; 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Will Smit, Grundy Center. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Peter and Eilert Knock.

Mrs. Kruse was a loving, faithful and devoted mother and will be greatly missed by her family.
