Heit Ross Lived In County 66 Yrs.; Died Friday Night

Heit Ross passed away Friday night at the home of his brother Martin at 10:30 o'clock, with whom he was making his home, after an illness of three weeks that followed a stroke.

Mr. Ross was born in Douglas county, Illinois, in 1861, and died at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 17 days. At the age of five years he moved with his parents to Iowa, settling on a farm with the Bole Williams family two miles west and 1 1/2 miles north of Wellsburg. From this family he contracted smallpox at that time, which left him blind the remainder of his life.

He came to Wellsburg to live in 1910 and made his home with his brother Martin and family.

He never married. Surviving are three brothers, Everett, John and Martin, all of Wellsburg, and one sister, Mrs. John Ertmoed, also of Wellsburg. Two brothers, Wm. and Henry, preceded him in death.

He was a member of the First Christian Reformed church, Rev. H. C. Bode pastor. The funeral service was held from that church with Rev. H. C. Bode and Rev. E. Boeve officiating Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock from the house and 1:30 from the church.
