Mrs. Hasbrouck, Former Grundy Resident, Dead
Mrs. Phoebe Hasbrouck, wife of the late James Hasbrouck, died at a Waterloo hospital last Thursday night from pernicious anemia from which she had been suffering for two years. She was a former resident of Grundy Center. She and her husband lived here during more than half of their married life. They removed to Waterloo about twenty-five years ago.
Phoebe Gibbons was born Oct. 1, 1860, in Huntington county, Ind., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Gibbons. She was married to James Howard Hasbrouck Dec. 25, 1878, at Grundy Center. Mr. Hasbrouck died June 29, 1925. Mrs. Hasbrouck was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. J. E. Clark, 618 Eighth street west, Waterloo; two sisters, Mrs. John Haskins, Higgins, Tex., and Mrs. Sina Webb, Montour; a grandson, Vincent Clark, with whom she made her home, and a granddaughter, Elvire Clark, also of Waterloo.
Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Church of the Brethren, with Rev. A. P. Blough, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery.
