Mrs. Edwin Vasey Died Sunday Morning at Cresco
Mrs. Edwin Vasey died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Fred Taft, at Cresco, Iowa, Sunday morning following an illness which covered a period of several months. The remains were sent to Grundy Center. On Tuesday afternoon a short funeral service was conducted by Rev. R. B. Fisher at the home of Dr. Thielen. Burial was by the side of the husband in the Grundy Center cemetery.
Obituary
Emma Davis, daughter of Titus H. and Julie Chetlain Davis, was born at Galena, Ill., where she spent the early days of her childhood. When a girl she moved to Iowa, her parents being pioneers of Grundy county. After completing her education she taught in the public schools of this community.She was married to Edwin Vasey in 1887 and they resided at Grundy Center and Lake Park, Iowa, and Riverside, Calif. After the death of her husband in 1911 Mrs. Vasey spent several years in Hammond, Louisiana, and Adrian, Minn., before taking up her residence in 1923 at Cresco, Iowa.
She is survived by three sisters and three brothers: Mrs. H. Wolf of Hammond, La.; Miss Adele Davis at Albia, Iowa; Mrs. Fred C. Taft of Cresco, Iowa; A. L. Davis, R. E. Davis and F. C. Davis of Adrian, Minn.; her nephew, Donald Fred Taft of Cresco; several other nephews and nieces, great-nephews and nieces, and many friends.
She was a member of the Presbyterian church of Grundy Center and later was an attendant of the Congregational church of Cresco. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Relatives from a distance who were here in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Taft and son Donald, and Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Bradley, all of Cresco; Mrs. J. C. Sannders, Iowa Falls; Mrs. Dan Green, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Asmus and Miss Julia Drenning, Galena, Ill.; A. L. Davis and daughter Julia, R. E. Davis and F. C. Davis, all of Adrian, Minn.; Miss Adele Davis, Albia.
