Mrs. Wm. Buchan Died Friday After Long Illness

Mrs. Wm. Buchan died at her home in Grundy Center last Friday after an illness covering a period of several months. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Grundy Center Monday afternoon. Rev. J. B. Bird had charge of the services. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Obituary
Grace Coryell was born Nov. 1, 1858, in Oshawa, Province of Ontario, Can., and died after a lingering illness Aug. 26, 1932, at the age of 73 years. While living in Canada she attended a young ladies' seminary at Toronto. She came with her parents to Iowa and located near Cedar Falls on a farm with them, finishing her education at Cedar Falls. She was united in marriage to Fremont S. Wells Feb. 28, 1876. They lived on a farm in Fairfield township a number of years, moving to Grundy Center in 1883, living here continually except for 5 years she spent at Eugene, Ore.

To this union were born six children, one dying in infancy. The living are: Mrs. Lettie Heisler, Waterloo; Jesse Wells and Marghuretta Wilson, Grundy Center; Mrs. Blanch Miller, La Conception, Rep. of Panama; Fremont S. Wells Jr., China, Calif. Death called away the husband and father on Aug. 4th, 1896.

On Aug. 29th, 1900, Mrs. Wells was married to H. J. Valentine of this city. In May, 190?, they moved to Eugene, Ore., coming back to their old home in Grundy Center in May, 1909, where he died March 11, 1913.

On March 18, 1915, she was married to Wm. Buchan of Dike. They lived on a farm for two years, moving to Grundy Center in the spring of 1917, where she resided til death.

She was a member of the M. E. church, W.R.C., Pythian Sisters and the Alpha Harmony Sunday school class. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, a faithful friend to everyone. She was of a quiet retiring nature, being happy in the love of her home and loved ones.

Surviving beside her husband and children are two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Polleck of New Hartford, Ia., and Mrs. Carrie Burroughs of New York City; five step-children; Mrs. May Stout, Grundy Center; Mrs. Nellie Hostetter, Miss Ana Buchan, Chicago, James of Estherville and Lyle of Dike; also 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
