Early Grundy Resident Died At Gilman Monday
Mrs. E. R. Godfrey, Mother of Twelve Children, Buried Today
Mrs. E. R. Godfrey died Monday night at her home in Gilman following a short illness.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the Beaman church, with Rev. G. W. McMichael, the pastor, in charge. Mrs. Rosa Oglesby and Mrs. Clayton Thomas sang, with Mrs. T. L. Evans at the piano. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. John Callahan and Mrs. Herbert Harris. The pallbearers were S. E. Zink, E. G. Elliot, Charles M. Rowe, W. H. Kail, W. J. Johnson and Perry Swift. Burial was in the Beaman cemetery, a half mile east of Beaman.
Those in attendance at the services from a distance were Charles Matney and Gifford Mailing, Gilman; Alfred Sisson and Mrs. Bertha Kranzer, Keester, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. William Sisson, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Sisson, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sisson, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Sisson and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nablo, all of Whitten.

Olive Helena Sisson was born Aug. 20, 1880, at the farm home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Sisson, in Felix township, Grundy county, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood.She confessed her Savior at an early age and was united with the Methodist church at Felix Center, where she was a faithful member for many years. About 1921 she placed her membership with the United Brethren church of Hansell, Iowa. There she was a member in good standing at the time of her death.
She was married to Edward R. Godfrey December 25, 1898. Twelve children were born, eleven of whom are now living.
The children are: James, of Lake Crystal, Minn.; Mrs. Verda Chrisman, Whitten; Mrs. Cleonice Coffman, Spring, Mo.; Eetrie, Dike, Iowa; Leon of Conrad; Laura of Woodward, Iowa; Luella of Toledo, Iowa; Wayne, Lloyd, Donald, and Victor of Gilman, Iowa. One child died in infancy.
Mrs. Godfrey died at her home in Gilman, Iowa, on February 23rd, 1931, being 50 years, 6 months and 3 days old. She leaves beside her husband and children, six sisters, three brothers, and ten grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.
