Isaac Baldwin, G.A.R. Veteran, Dies in Texas
Isaac Baldwin, a veteran of the Civil War, died at the home of his daughter in Fort Worth, Texas, Monday. The remains are on the way to Grundy Center and they will arrive here Friday morning. Funeral service, to be conducted by Rev. J. B. Bird, will be held in the Methodist church in Grundy Center Friday afternoon at two o'clock. Burial will be by the side of the wife in the Beaman cemetery.
Mr. Baldwin was for many years a resident near Fifteen Mile Grove.
Obituary
Isaac Baldwin was born at Ottawa, Ill., Dec. 28, 1845, and died Oct. 13, 1930. On March 6, 1866, he was united in marriage to Susan Bent. To this union two children were born, both of whom are living, Mrs. Cora Crotty of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Mrs. Ella Watson of Lincoln, Neb.Mr. Baldwin was a Civil war veteran, having served in the last year of the war. Shortly after his marriage he moved with his family to Tama county near Fifteen Mile Grove, where he resided until 1880. In that year he moved to Holt county, Nebraska, proving up on a homestead there and later engaging in the mercantile business at Chambers, Nebraska. In 1910 he moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, living there until the death of his wife, July 7, 1918. Since then he has been at the home of his daughter at Ft. Worth, Texas.
Besides his daughters he is survived by five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his loss.
