Mrs. Pierce Dies In Hospital
Services in Baptist Church Here This Afternoon
Mrs. Minnie Pierce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Glover, was born in Missouri June 26, 1872. She departed this life at half past ten Monday evening, Feb. 11, 1929, at the Broadlawns hospital, Des Moines, at the age of 56 years, 7 months and 15 days.
In the year of 1891 she was united in marriage to William P. Pierce. To this union were born eight children: Morris of Grundy Center, Merle Glaspy of Des Moines, Ralph of Peoria, George of West Burlington, Gladys Mason of Mitchell, Iowa; Olive Landon of Des Moines, Clarence of Spirit Lake and Roscoe of Newton.
During her residence in Illinois she was affiliated with the Graham Chapel, a country church, of Coles county. As a mother, she was possessed with a spirit of self sacrifice for her children.
On Sunday evening, Feb. 10th, while on her way to church she was stricken with cerebral hemorrhage and never regained consciousness.
Her husband preceded her in death on July 13, 1908. Those who mourn her loss are the daughters and sons, 14 grandchildren, two brothers, Ed. Glover of Mattoon, Ill., and Frank Glover, of Allenville, Ill.
The remains were brought from Des Moines to Grundy Center, Feb. 13th and funeral services will be conducted from the Baptist church by Rev. L. P. Cassel at two o'clock this afternoon, Feb. 14th, and interment will be in Clark's cemetery.
