Mrs. Herbert Ohrt Fatally Burned

Mrs. Herbert Ohrt, 29, died Sunday at a Waterloo hospital from the effects of burns she sustained Saturday night at the farm home of the Ohrts, three miles south of Hudson.

Mr. Ohrt had gone to Waterloo Saturday to bring friends back with him to spend Easter Sunday at the farm. About midnight that night, the fire getting low, Mrs. Ohrt threw some kerosene onto the smoldering coal and in the explosion that followed she was terribly burned. Two boys asleep upstairs were aroused by the explosion and escaped thru an upstairs window and haled a passing autoist, who did what they could for the injured woman and saved the house from burning.

Mrs. Ohrt was before her marriage Miss Hazel June Newville of Beaman. She grew to womanhood there and was married Feb. 5, 1916, to Herbert Ohrt, of Reinbeck.
