Mrs. Clara Jones

Clara Baskins Jones, daughter of Thomas and Nancy Baskins was born in Grundy County, Iowa, June 13th, 1868 and passed away from earth at Eldora, March 26th, aged 59 years, 9 months and 13 days.

One sister Nancy and two brothers, George and William have preceded her in death. One brother Charles of this place and other relatives and friends are left to mourn her departure.

The passing of Mrs. Jones was sudden and unexpected; she had been ill during recent months but was sufficiently improved as to go about the city. Mrs. Jones had returned home from attending the Hawthorne Club and sat down to read the evening paper. When her brother Charles returned home at 10 o'clock he found his sister ill and immediately summoned a physician and the assistance of neighbors. Mrs. Jones died however before help could reach the house. Death was due to heart disease.

Funeral services are being held at the home this afternoon at two o'clock and are being conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. H. Mitchell. Burial will be made in the Melrose cemetery, east of town.
