John E. Meinert Dies At Hospital

John Ernest Meinert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Meinert of Grundy Center died at the Allen Memorial in Waterloo at 12:45 Monday morning. He had been sick with cancer for only three months. He was 31 years old last August.

Funeral services will be held at the Ferree chapel in Grundy Center at 1:30 Thursday afternoon and two o'clock at the Bethany Presbyterian church. Rev. Langenberg will officiate at the service. He will be assisted by Rev. J. L. Pace, pastor of the Baptist church in Grundy Center. Burial will be in the Grundy cemetery.

John Meinert was born on a farm in Washington township Aug. 10, 1919 and he grew up there and attended rural school. He assisted his father in the operation of a big farm until he was married to Mildred Aiken on May 20, 1944. They lived on a farm five miles northeast of Grundy Center for three years when they moved to his father's farm 6 miles northeast of Reinbeck.

Surviving are the wife, one daughter, Jane, 5 and a son Robert, 10 months. Other surviving members of his family are his parents, two brothers and four sisters. The brothers are Theodore, Grundy Center and Harry at Ames. The sisters are, Margaret, Mrs. Herman Koch, Grundy Center; Helen, Mrs. Ken Manus, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Hildegarde, Mrs. George Dirks, Grundy Center; Marie, Mrs. Max Whitney, Sheffield.
