Mrs. Charles Martin Dies After Long Illness

Mrs. Charles Martin died at her home in Grundy Center Thursday afternoon after a long illness. She was 74 years old.

Funeral services were held at the Ferree chapel Monday afternoon. They were conducted by Rev. Gerben VanPutten.

Burial was beside the husband in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Mrs. Martin was born at Clearfield, Pa., September 6, 1876. Her maiden name was Viola Bloom. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bloom. She grew up at Winthrop and was married there to Charles Martin. They lived for a short time at Winthrop after their marriage and later for short periods they resided at Jesup and at Greene, Iowa. About 40 years ago they came to Grundy Center where Mr. Martin was engaged in the barber business as long as his health permitted. Mr. Martin died in 1944. The couple had no children.

She is survived by a brother, Frank Bloom, of Winthrop; nephews, Edward Arthurs of Masonville, Jay E. Bloom of Oelwein, Guy Bloom of Fairbanks, and an aunt, Mrs. Henry Proctor of Fayette.
