Ross Johnson Dies Following Long Illness
Ross Devore Johnson died Sunday morning at 7:30 of a heart ailment at the home of his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Reisinger, 139 Linwood Avenue in Waterloo, following several weeks illness. He had been a patient at the Allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo four weeks and two weeks ago, was taken to the Reisinger home. Mr. Johnson was born Jan. 4, 1900, in Woodson, Morgan county, Ill., son of Thomas and Lucy Johnson. He lived in Kansas a number of years before coming to Iowa with his parents in 1917.
He was married to Miss Faye Leone Reisinger in June, 1934, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua.
He had been in the trucking business for twenty years previous to operating the West Side Tavern in Dike the past three years.
Mr. Johnson was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors besides his widow include his mother, Mrs. Lucy Johnson of Dike, one sister, Mrs. Jake Alberts of Dike, two brothers, Thomas of Dike, and Harvey of Jackson, Mich. His father preceded him in death in November, 1940. Funeral services were held at the Dike Methodist church Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, with Rev. L. J. Runion, pastor officiating. Burial was at Elmwood cemetery in Dike.
Casket bearers were Lee Chandler, V. A. Paige, Bernhard Christensen, Elmer Tobias, Jim Buchan and C. H. McKinder.
