Death Comes To Mrs. Ed O'Connor Of Grant Twp.
Mrs. Edward J. O'Connor, a long time resident of Grant township, died in St. Francis hospital, Waterloo, at two o'clock Monday afternoon from complications due to advanced age. She was 89.
The body was taken to the O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home in Waterloo. Wednesday afternoon it was removed to the farm home in Grant township.
Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic church in Grant township. The Rev. Justin Kress, pastor of the church, officiated at the service. Burial was in the family lot adjoining the church.
Mrs. O'Connor was born Dec. 19, 1860, in Sheboygan, Wis., the daughter of John D. and Catherine Murphy. She was married to Edward J. O'Connor at St. Mary's Catholic church in Dike on Nov. 12, 1887. The couple moved to the farm in Grundy county following the marriage and Mrs. O'Connor remained there until her death.
Surviving Mrs. O'Connor are 4 sons, Charles E., Milwaukee, Wis.; Edward E., Mert J. and John L., all of Reinbeck; 4 daughters, Mae and Elizabeth at home; Mrs. Katherine Rogers of Osage; and Mrs. Loretta Rogers of 518 Webster street, Waterloo, survive the deceased. Mrs. O'Connor also leaves a brother, John F. Murphy of Waterloo; two sisters, Mrs. Ben Smith and Mrs. Nettie Murphy of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
