Funeral Services For Fritz Klunder

Funeral services for Fritz Klunder, a resident of Holland for several years, who died at his home in Grundy Center Sunday evening, were held at the American Lutheran church in Grundy Center Wednesday afternoon. Burial was in the cemetery at Holland. Rev. Lowell Koch, pastor of the Lutheran church, officiated at the services.

Obituary
Fritz Klunder, son of Friedrick and Anna Klunder, was born at Bokol, Germany, April 10, 1874, one of eight children.

Through baptism he became a member of the Lutheran Church at Bokol, and later on, after thorough instruction in the teachings of the Christian faith, he was confirmed in the same church, where his family were members.

In the year 1892 he came to America at the age of 16. On the 4th of July in that year he settled at Holland, Grundy county. In this vicinity he grew to manhood.

On May 21, 1901, he married Marika Daniels. They lived on a farm near Wellsburg until 1919, when they removed near to Beaman. Here they farmed until 1931, when they retired to Holland.

In the year 1943 a son, Fritz Jr., preceded him in death.

In 1946 he and his family moved to Grundy Center, purchasing the house that was his home for the remainder of his life.

His usual vitality and strength served him for 76 years. During the past weeks, however, he became increasingly weak. On Friday, April 21, and again on Sunday, April 23, he suffered strokes. And then, after patient resignation, his life came to a quiet close on Sunday evening, April 30.

He leaves his wife, Marika, and three children: Mrs. Ernest Anspach of Waterloo, Harm of Grundy Center; and Dan, also of Grundy Center.

There is also one member of the original family, a brother, Ben, living at Bridgewater, So. Dak.
