Mrs. C. U. Harken Dead

Mrs. C. U. Harken died at her home a mile and a half north of Buck Grove about nine o'clock Saturday morning. A complication of female troubles was the cause of her death. She had been an invalid for some time.

Mrs. Harken was forty-five years old. She was a daughter of the late Jake Neymeyer, who was an early resident of Pleasant Valley township. Mrs. Harken resided in this community all of her life.

The deceased is survived by her husband and seven children who have the sympathy of all who know them in their bereavement.

Funeral services were held at Aplington where the remains were laid to rest.

Obituary

After a long illness of several years, Mrs. C. U. Harken, nee Neymeyer, passed away at her home southeast of Aplington, Iowa, on Saturday morning, Jan. 30, 1926. A complication of diseases brought about her early end. She was born Dec. 25, 1881, in German township, Grundy county, and she reached an age of 44 years, 1 month and 5 days.

In Feb. 1901, she was united in marriage to Mr. C. U. Harken, and their home was blessed with ten children, one of whom died in infancy.

For many years she was a member of Westfriesland church where she attended faithfully as long as she could. We cherish a well founded hope that her translation brought her in the immediate presence of her Savior.

Funeral services were conducted in the Westfriesland church, and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Johnson. Many friends gathered to pay their last respect to her. There remain to mourn her early departure her sorrowing husband, her children Margaret, Mrs. Arend Kannegieter, Obbo, Bernice, Jake, Anna, Arend, Martha and Gertrude, two grandchildren, her aged mother, Mrs. Neymeyer, from Aplington; six brothers, four sisters, and many other relatives and friends.
