Helga M. Stirler, age 98, of Reinbeck, Iowa passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck. Inurnment will be private. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Helga was born on December 5, 1914 in Reinbeck Iowa; the daughter of Chris and Johanna (Thompson) Petersen. She graduated from Reinbeck High School. Helga was united in marriage to John Stirler on October 4, 1941 at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they welcomed a son into their family. Helga worked as a telephone operator in Reinbeck for many years and worked at the grocery store in Reinbeck as a cashier.

Helga was a longtime member of Saint John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck. She liked to cook, loved flowers and was a bird watcher. Helga especially enjoyed playing Bingo with her friends. She had a real love of life and her true joy came from spending time with her family and friends.

Helga is survived by her son Larry Stirler of Reinbeck, Iowa; many nieces and sister-in-law LaVonne Stirler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, 4 sisters-in-law and 3 brothers-in-law.
