Annabelle Ruth Ward 90, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 11, 2013, at Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck, Iowa, with Rev. Joel Love officiating. Burial will follow at the Reinbeck Cemetery in Reinbeck. Visitation will be Thursday, January 10, 2013, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. Memorials may be made to the family.

Annabelle was born on January 15, 1922, in Reinbeck, Iowa, the daughter of Marcus & Isabelle (Cooper) Claussen. She grew up in Reinbeck, graduating from Reinbeck High School. After graduation Annabelle taught at a country school then worked at Presbyterian Hospital in Waterloo as a cashier. On August 8, 1943, she enlisted in the United States Navy where she served her country till being Honorably Discharged on February 4, 1946. On October 17, 1947, Annabelle was united in marriage to Henry Ward at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Reinbeck. She worked for the US Postal Service for many years.

She was a member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ and Oak Leaf Country Club and American Legion Action Post #242 all in Reinbeck. In 2011 she was able to go on the Honor Flight as she was part of the "Lucky 13" from Reinbeck. She was avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan. Annabelle enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, crocheting and playing golf. What she truly enjoyed in life was her family and friends and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Annabelle is survived by her brother, John Lee Claussen and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; and brother Merle.
