N. P. Jensen Called To Reward

Was One of Grundy's Oldest and most Highly Respected Citizens

Niels Peter Jensen was born on the Island of Moen, Denmark, May 19th, 1842.

In 1863 and 1864 he served in the army under King Christian IX of Denmark.

In 1869 he came to Wisconsin. Feb. 4, 1870, he came to Grundy Center, and on March 1st, 1875, he moved to East Palermo, now Washington township.

A few years later he moved to Morrison which place was his home until his death on Aug. 23, 1924. On Dec. 25th, 1877, he was married to Sarah J. Munn, who with two nieces, Myrn and Mary Jensen, survive him.

He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge at Grundy Center, having joined that Order in 1875 and has always been a faithful member.

In 1875 he united with the Methodist Episcopal church in Grundy Center. Later on moving to Morrison he transferred his membership to the M.E. church and remained a faithful member of the M.E. church until his death.

Funeral services were conducted at the home Monday afternoon, Aug. 25, 1924, by Rev. Geo. E. Shear, of Reinbeck. Interment in the Morrison cemetery.
