Dies At C. Falls Of Pneumonia

Miss Lena Steinmeyer Passed Away After Short Illness

Miss Lena Steinmeyer died at the hospital at Cedar Falls last Saturday following an illness of eleven days with pneumonia. She was attending the summer session of the state teachers' college when she was taken sick. Pneumonia later developed into paralysis of the intestines.

All that medical aid and loving hands could do was of no avail, although suffering intensely she bore it with great patience. After saying goodbye to her loved ones, who were all at her bedside excepting her sister, Mrs. Lamka Anderson, who was unable to arrive in time, she peacefully departed from this life.

Lena was born April 7, 1904, in Lincoln township, Grundy county, Iowa. All her life was spent in this vicinity with the exception of the last two years, when she with her sister, Martha, attended the Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. She graduated at the end of this school year and was now taking a normal course, expecting to teach school this fall.

Lena was a sweet and lovable girl and her kind disposition and winning ways made her a great favorite with her family and large circle of friends.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. Drake and Rev. Achtenstadt were held at the Lutheran church in Holland Tuesday afternoon. Interment was made in the cemetery at Lincoln Center.

She leaves to mourn her untimely death her mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. John Frerichs, of Holland, one brother, August, and five sisters, Justena, Mrs. Ben Junker of Aplington; Marie of Des Moines, Mrs. Lamka Anderson of Denver, Colo.; and Martha, her father having preceded her in death eighteen years ago. Besides there are a large number of relatives and a large host of friends.

Those attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rabenburg, Rev. and Mrs. Kruse, Mrs. Geo. Sparenborg and John Rabenburg, Woden; Fred Torbeck, Rushmore, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Venenga and Mr. and Mrs. Lammert Meyer, Hampton.
