Mr. and Mrs. George D. Harberts were called upon to mourn the death of their daughter, little Marie Jeannette, who passed away Tuesday evening at about 7:20, following an illness of thirteen days with pneumonia and pleurisy. The little one had shown hopeful signs of improvement until Tuesday noon when conditions took a change for the worse and continued so until the end came. Little Marie was ten months and fourteen days old. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:30 at the house and later at the German Presbyterian church. Interment will be made in the Grundy Center cemetery.

-----------------------------------------------
Marie Jeanette Harberts was born August 17th, 1923, to Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Harberts, of this city, and passed away July 1st, 1924, aged 10 months and 14 days. She was ill for thirteen days with pneumonia and pleurisy, and though everything possible was done for her, her frail little body could no longer withstand the ravages of the disease.
She leaves besides her parents to mourn her departure, one brother, Edgar, and two sisters, Lorraine and Esther, also an aged grandfather and two aged grandmothers and numerous other relatives.
She was baptized Dec. 23, 1923, and has always been a very healthy, robust child, until stricken by her last fatal illness.
Baby Marie was a very lovable child and always had a smile for those who came near her, and she will be greatly missed by those who knew her the short time she was on this earth, a fact that was evidenced by the many floral offerings contributed by relatives and friends.
Those little lips so sweet to kiss
Are closed forever now.
Those sparkling eyes that shone so bright
Beneath that pearly brow.
The little heart that beat so high,
Free from all care and gloom,
Are hidden now from those she loved
Beneath the silent tomb.Funeral services were held from the home at one-thirty on Saturday, July 5th, Rev. H. F. Sinning, pastor of the German Presbyterian church, officiating.
Those present from a distance were Rev. Wm. Harberts, Cathage, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Harberts, Ralph Harberts, Mrs. Henry Willemsen, Mrs. Ed. Symens and son, Edward, of George, Iowa; Mrs. B. Roelfs, Sanborn, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Harm A. Symens, Amherst, So. Dak.; Mrs. Anna Dampf, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. John Harberts, Stout, Iowa.
