Obituary of Daisy Mildred Hess

Daisy Mildred, daughter of John and Elsie Hess, was born in Melrose township, Grundy county, Iowa, Apr. 28, 1909, and departed this life May 27, 1924, at Vinton, Iowa, where she had been attending the State College for the Blind since February first, 1924.

When a small child she moved with her family to Conrad where she attended public school and united with the Presbyterian church. She loved the Sunday school and church.

She is preceded in death by a small brother, a sister and her mother, who passed away last September. She leaves her father, one brother, two sisters and a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss.

Memorial services were held for her at the college at Vinton Wednesday morning and the funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church of Conrad Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Baker assisted by Rev. Byler. Miss Grace Gustavson sang. Six cousins were pall bearers.

Burial was beside her mother in the Alice cemetery.

Daisy Mildred Hess, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hess, formerly of Melrose township, died at Vinton on May 27th, where she had been attending the college for the blind. Following the death of her mother she was placed in the school for the blind. She was born in Melrose township in this county and her remains were brought here Thursday for interment in the Alice church cemetery.
