Obituary of Lee Dunn

Leroy Dunn was born near Morgantown, Mongalia county, West Virginia, Nov. 13, 1849. He was the son of James and Elizabeth Ann Dunn. When he was twelve years of age the family moved to Allamakee county, in northeastern Iowa. Four years later the family moved to Grundy county, where they resided for 43 years.

The deceased was united in marriage to Rachel Davis on April 27th, 1872, who died in 1916. Of this union two children were born, viz., Mrs. Edward Longnecker, of Grundy Center, and Ellis Dunn of Crook, Colorado.

Since March, 1908, the deceased has lived at Crook, Colo. On February 18th, 1918, he married Miss Ella Byrnes, who survives him.

Besides the widow, other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Edward Longnecker of Grundy Center, Iowa; a son, Ellis Dunn, of Crook, Colo., a sister, Mrs. Zelena Hartman, of Canada, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Death came as a welcome release from the suffering of several years of a complication of diseases, on the morning of May 29, 1924. At the time of his death the deceased was aged 74 years, 6 months and 16 days.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, May 31st, at the Methodist church in Grundy Center, the Rev. George Woodall officiating. Interment was made in the family plot in the city cemetery.
