Mrs. Teressa Graham was born at Mt. Carrol, Ill., April 23, 1842, and died at her home in Grundy Center, Iowa, November 12, 1923, aged 81 years, 6 months and 19 days.

She was the daughter of Benjamin and Maria Douglas Jacobs. Her girlhood days were passed at Mt. Carrol. After completing her education at the Mt. Carrol Seminary she taught several terms of school in Illinois and Iowa.

She was married at Mt. Carrol Dec. 15, 1861, to John C. Graham. After their marriage they resided for several years on the groom's farm in Jackson County, Iowa, near the present site of Preston. They also lived near Newton and Eldora, Iowa, for a number of years, coming to Grundy Center in 1887. Mr. graham passed away May 22, 1904. They were the parents of five children, George, Hattie, and Ernest, who died in infancy, Millie and Lillie who are at home. Besides the family she leaves to mourn her death two brothers, A. D. Jacobs of Vancouver, Wash., A. W. Jacobs of Minnesota, and one sister, Mrs. W. F. Sherman of Monrovia, Calif.

At the age of fifteen Mrs. Graham united with the Methodist church at Mt. Carrol, but after coming to Grundy Center she and her husband united with the Presbyterian church. She has been an invalid for several years but while her health permitted was an active member of the Missionary and Aid Societies. She was a great reader and was very much interested in the topics of the day especially political happenings. Although a great sufferer at times she was patient and ready to lay down the burden of life. She was attended faithfully by her two daughters who did all in their power to alleviate her sufferings.

The funeral was held from the home Wednesday, November 14th, at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. Earl W. Benbow of the Presbyterian church.

Those who attended the funeral from out of town were: Mrs. Herbert Jacobs, Mr. and Mrs. Ansley Jacobs and daughter, Jean, of Webster City, Iowa; Mr. L. R. Clements, Mr. Harold Clements, Knoxville, Iowa; Mrs. Josie Bean, Harvey, Iowa; Mr. Geo. Lamken and daughter, Anna, of Gladbrook, Iowa; and Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Cole, of Beaman, Iowa; and Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Schuler, of Parkersburg.
