Amke Lubberts Terbeck was born on Dec. 31, 1845, in Engerhafe, Ostfriesland. She was united in marriage to Heike Terbeck on Dec. 16, 1871, nearly 52 years ago. This union was blessed with four children. One son and one daughter preceded the mother in death at the age of 7 and 9 years.

In the year 1890 Mr. and Mrs. Terbeck with their two children came to America, first settling at Pekin, Ill., about three years later they moved to Grundy county to live in the neighborhood of their children, who had moved to Iowa.

In 1913 they moved to Grundy Center where they have lived up to the time of her death.

Grandmother Terbeck enjoyed good health up until about a year ago when she first began to fail. About three months ago gangrene began to develop in her foot which caused her death on Nov. 8, at about 2 o'clock in the morning. The last month she suffered greatly, but ever patient, knowing that it would not last very much longer.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, one son, Herman Terbeck, living in Floyd county, one daughter, Mrs. J. Kuhlman, Grundy Center, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. J. Maas, Holland, Ia., one brother, Hei Lubberts, of Engerhafe, Ostfriesland, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the German Presbyterian church, Rev. H. F. Sinning, officiating.
