Herbert W. Lynch Services Monday At Sacred Heart

Herbert W. Lynch, 81, a lifelong resident of Grundy county died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday at Countryside Nursing Home where he had resided since October of 1963.

Death was caused by cancer.

The Rosary for Mr. Lynch was said at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Ferree Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic church with the Rev. Fr. P. C. Bodensteiner officiating. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Herbert William Lynch was born November 11, 1883, in Grundy county, the son of John and Mary Ann Valentine Lynch.

He was united in marriage to Emelie Miller on February 14, 1911, who passed away May 24, 1921.

Mr. Lynch and Mrs. Margaret Strickler were married February 4, 1938. She died on October 24, 1962.

The deceased farmed for many years in Washington township before retiring in 1954. He had made his home at 1107 H Avenue in Grundy Center before moving to Countryside Nursing Home.

Survivors include one son, Harold H. Lynch of Grundy Center, two daughters, Catherine, Mrs. William Slater of Grundy Center, and Ethel, Mrs. Jiles Eslinger, Reinbeck, two step-sons, Gerald and Donald Strickler, both of Grundy Center, also 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two wives.
