Alfred C. Bienfang Dies In Vet. Hosp.
Alfred C. Bienfang died last Thursday in Veterans' hospital, Des Moines. He was 72 years old. Death was due to a lingering illness from cancer.
The body was brought to the Ferree Funeral Home in Grundy Center where funeral arrangements were made. Services were at the Ferree Funeral Home Saturday forenoon at 10 o'clock. The service was conducted by Rev. A. Harold Sparks, pastor of the Grundy Methodist church. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.
Mr. Bienfang was a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Bienfang. He was born at Jefferson, Wisconsin, June 28, 1892. The family moved to a farm a half-mile north of Grundy Center, where the large family of children grew up.
Alfred Bienfang and Helen Huyck were married in Grundy Center, Oct. 23, 1923. They resided in Wisconsin nine years. He was also associated with his father-in-law in the operation of the Grundy County Oil Company in Grundy Center. In late years he and his wife operated the roller skating rink at Iowa falls, the Black Hawk Place Rink at Cedar Falls, and the High View Roller Rink at Newton. He retired from active business three years ago because of his declining health. They spent several of the past winters in Arizona. He was a veteran of World War I.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, and three sisters.
Surviving are the wife, Helen, two daughters, Mrs. John Dugan, Newton, Iowa, and Mrs. Clyde Lukeheart, Omaha; and one son, Homer, of Clear Lake.
Other surviving members of his family are five brothers: E. C. Bienfang, Grundy Center; Roy, Oelwein, Raymond and Nolan, Waterloo, and Wilford, LaPorte City. There are six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
