R. D. Pabst Dies In Nursing Home

Ralph D. Pabst, who spent his active life in Grundy county, died at 8:45 Monday morning at the Burke Nursing Home at Union, where he had been a patient the past five years. He was 81 years old. Death was due to advanced age and complications.

The body was brought to the Engelkes funeral home in Grundy Center where arrangements were made. Services will be held at the Engelkes Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery, Grundy Center.

Mr. Pabst was born in Grundy county, Oct. 8, 1883. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Rolf Pabst. He grew up on the Lincoln township farm.

December 24, 1914, he and Ella Schatzberg were married. They made their home on a Lincoln township farm. The wife died in 1943. He continued to live on the farm until he went to the nursing home. The couple had one son, Russell, who with his family resides on the Lincoln township farm.

Surviving are the son; two grandsons; one sister, Mrs. Claire Amburn, Grundy Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Fred, Christ, Amos and John. One sister also preceded him in death.
