Emil Stickfort Dies Suddenly
Emil Stickfort, a long time resident of the town of Holland died in his bed at his home about 3:30 Monday morning following a sudden heart attack. He had been in good health before he was stricken, had attended church service Sunday and last Friday he and his wife returned from a trip to South Dakota.
He had suffered two previous heart attacks, one two years ago and one last January.
The body was taken to the Engelkes Funeral Home where arrangements were made. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon and at 1:30 Thursday the service will be at the Christian Reformed Church in Holland with Rev. Clyde VanWinkle officiating. Burial will be in the Holland cemetery.
Mr. Stickfort would have been 76 years old had he lived until October 8th of this year. He was born in Germany, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stickfort. At the age one and a half years he came to America with his parents. The family resided on a farm near Wellsburg and Emil grew up there.
Jan. 24th, 1924 Emil Stickfort and Dena Grimmius were married in Holland. They resided here ever since. For many years he was employed as a member of the Rock Island section crew out of Holland. Later he did carpenter work and painting in the community. Lately he had been serving as street commissioner in the town of Holland.
Surviving are the wife and one daughter, Mrs. Marvin Hinders from Reinbeck. There are four grandchildren, two brothers, Henry, Oelwein and William, Stout; two sisters, Mrs. Wm. D. Janssen, Estelline, South Dakota and Mrs. Helen Everts, Grundy Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons, one brother and one sister.
