Mrs. L. B. Canfield Dies Monday

Mrs. Pearl Canfield died Monday evening at the Grundy hospital. She was taken to the hospital on May 2nd following a heart condition at her home. She was 72 years old.

The funeral services are being arranged by the Ferree Funeral Home, with Rev. A. Harold Sparks conducting the service, assisted by Rev. Jerry Walker. Services will be at the Methodist church, Grundy Center, Thursday, June 11, 2 p.m. with burial in the Grundy cemetery.

Obituary
Pearl Jackson Canfield was born October 4, 1891, in Bagley, Iowa, to the late Thomas W. Jackson and Lena Hill Jackson. The family moved to Perry, Iowa, in 1898 where she graduated from high school in 1910.

She taught rural school for two years in Dallas county.

Mrs. Canfield married Lewis B. Canfield, August 6, 1912, in Des Moines. Grundy Center had been their home continually except for the years between 1922 and 1931, when the family lived in Conrad. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband June 14, 1963.

Survived by 3 sons: Kenneth M. Canfield of Cedar Rapids; Keith P. Canfield of Lincoln, Neb. and G. Dale Canfield of Dysart; one sister, Mrs. A. R. Bloomburg, Des Moines; a brother, T. Eldon Jackson of Arcadia, Calif.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Methodist church, where she was choir director for many years, O.E.S., and the American Legion Auxiliary, all of which she took an active part until ill health forced her to retire a few years ago. However, she continued teaching piano students prior to her hospitalization.
