Alberdena Neessen Died At Hospital
Miss Alberdena Catherina Neessen died at the Eldora hospital at 6:30 Thursday morning. She had been afflicted with cancer for only a few months. She was able to attend services in her church at home the last Sunday in January. Three weeks ago she was taken to the hospital at Rochester for treatment. When it was assured at Rochester that she could not get well, she was returned by ambulance to the Eldora hospital on Tuesday of last week. She would have been 56 years old had she lived until the 4th of this month.
Funeral services were held at the home in Wellsburg at 1:30 on Monday and later at the Reformed church. The services were conducted by Rev. Edw. Jurgens. Burial was in the family lot in the cemetery adjoining the church.
Music at the service was by Miss Luella Beving and Mrs. Woodrow Lindaman with Mrs. Fred Ruter as accompanist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Odie Olthoff, Mrs. John Ohling and Mrs. George Eekhoff. The casket bearers were H. G. and H. T. Neessen, Tim Dudden, Cecil S. Peters, John Groeneveld and Vernon Peters.
Born on Colfax Twp. Farm
Miss Neessen was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Neessen. She was born on a farm in Colfax township. The family moved to the Neessen farm a mile north of Wellsburg when she was a small child. She moved with her parents to the town of Wellsburg in 1917 and resided here continually during the remainder of her life. Her mother died in 1934 and her father passed away ten years later. She was a regular attendant at the Reformed church and a member of the Dorcas Society.Surviving are two brothers and one sister, Mrs. John Masselink of Orange City. The two brothers are Heiko C. and Claus Neessen of Wellsburg. Other surviving relatives are three nieces and one nephew.
