Funeral Thursday For Eilert Knock At Local Church

Funeral services will be held this Thursday beginning at 12 o'clock noon at the home and later at the Wellsburg Reformed Church for Eilert W. Knock, 64, lifelong Grundy county resident.

Rev. George C. Poppen will officiate at the service. Burial will be in the Reformed Church cemetery.

Music for the funeral service is to be furnished by Mrs. G. C. Poppen, soloist, while Marcella Neessen will play the organ. Flower attendants are to be Mrs. John Weichers and Mrs. H. L. Luwe.

Casketbearers will be Gust Fritzel, Claus Neessen, Asa Slifer, John Heerts, Ralph Heerts and Marcus D. Meyer.

Mr. Knock passed away at 7:30 a.m. Monday at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital of a stroke he suffered earlier that morning at his home. He was rushed to the hospital by ambulance about an hour and a half before his death.

Obituary
Eilert W. Knock was born on May 17, 1892 in Colfax township, the son of William and Rena Knock. He spent his entire life in Grundy county and farmed for many years in the Wellsburg area before retiring in 1943.

On February 1, 1917 he was united in marriage to Miss Tena Kruse. The couple farmed in this vicinity until they moved to Wellsburg 14 years ago.

The couple had celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with their family and close friends only two and a half weeks prior to his sudden passing.

Mr. Knock made confession of faith in Jesus Christ on January 12, 1919, and was a faithful member of the Wellsburg Reformed church.

Survivors include his wife and three children, Wilbur, Annette (Mrs. Harold Okones), and Irene (Mrs. Elmer Ruter), all of Wellsburg; six grandchildren; his father William Knock all of Wellsburg.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Claus Neessen and Mrs. Gust Fritzel, both of Wellsburg, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jake, on May 14, 1917; a sister, Hilke, on November 5, 1901; and his mother, on October 4, 1952.
