Funeral services were held at the Reformed church in Wellsburg Saturday afternoon at 1:30 for August Baars, who died last Wednesday. The services were conducted by Rev. Edward Jurgens. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church.
The deceased had been afflicted with diabetes and a heart ailment for several months. He had been making his home with Amanda Neessen.
Mr. Baars was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Engelbrest in the St. Matthew's Lutheran church of Chicago.
He was born October 11, 1873, at Chicago, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Baars. He lived in Chicago until 1928 where he worked as a molder and foundry worker, then came to Wellsburg where he made his home with his cousins, Amanda Neessen and Mrs. H. A. Geerdes.
He became seriously ill on Dec. 11, 1949. His heart condition was aggravated with many complications. Medical attention was faithfully given, but recovery was not possible.
